Ideal for backpacking and trekking, the easy-to-use Exstream Mackenzie is EPA registered to remove all types of microorganisms, including viruses. Just unscrew the lid and fill the 1 liter (34 oz.) bottle with untreated fresh water from lakes, rivers, or streams. It is that easy! The Mackenzie also provides protection against waterborne pathogens that may still be present in the tap water of many foreign countries. The ViruStat water purification cartridge inside the center of the bottle (it is attached to the tube that you drink from) removes over 99.9% of waterborne cysts and protozoa like Giardia and Cryptosporidium. It also kills over 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria and 99.99% of waterborne viruses, as determined under the U.S. EPA microbial water purification protocol. The replaceable filter treats 26 gallons (100 liters).
